The day I forget how exciting it is to purchase a home, or the importance of saving money by refinancing is the day I need to leave the mortgage industry. I continue to be gratified by the awesome responsibility of securing the most appropriate financing to either purchase or refinance people’s homes or investment properties. It has been a pleasure to serve North Carolina homeowners for the past 23 years.
I am committed to serving our community. Educating young people has been my passion. I have volunteered to teach micro and macro economics at a local high school. In addition, for the past six years I have coached the varsity golf team at Cresset Christian Academy. I have also served in leadership positions at the Durham Chamber of Commerce and Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
For over a decade (1983 – 2005), I was the mortgage expert and regular guest on “Money Talk”, a radio talk show in the Triangle which educated the public in financial matters. All of this would have been impossible without the loving support of my wife, Sandra, and two children, Hannah and Todd.

I have been a part of the Triangle Financial Services Team since 2003. I began working here just after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (This has been a source of many an office argument since I am the only Tar Heel in the office amongst the Dukies!) Although I started out answering phones, as my knowledge and interest increased through processing loans, I quickly decided to become trained and licensed as a mortgage consultant. My background in dealing directly with underwriters, attorneys, and closers throughout the entire loan process gives me an understanding of how to make your loan go smoothly and efficiently, from consultation to closing.
As your loan officer I will take the time to listen to you and figure out what works best for your unique situation. I recognize that there is no cookie-cutter solution for every borrower, and I devote all possible time & resources to finding the best solution for you. Each customer is my highest priority.
I spend the majority of my time away from the office with my beautiful four year old daughter, Meriana. I was born in Dillon, South Carolina, just a few minutes away from the famous (or infamous?) South of the Border. My family moved to Durham when I was three years old. This has been my home ever since, with the exception of brief stays in Chapel Hill while in school, at Myrtle Beach for a summer, and in Singapore for a study abroad program.

To me, the best thing about being a mortgage consultant is the ability to be an ambassador for my hometown. People moving to Durham have questions about the area and often need help in every aspect of their move. Being a Durham native, I enjoy introducing newcomers to my hometown and connecting them with a number of area professionals to make their move a simple and successful one. I work closely with a number of area Realtors and am an active member of the Durham Regional Association of Realtors.
Enthusiasm for my hometown extends into my personal life as well. As Vice President for Community Development of the Durham Jaycees, I coordinate the organization’s community outreach and volunteer programs. I am a recent graduate of the Durham Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Durham program and am a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Durham.
I graduated from Riverside High School in Durham and Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Before entering the mortgage business, I owned and operated a sign company in Durham. My wife Emily and I live in south Durham with our daughter Ellie and our dog Zaxby.
